City Wolves Poem by India Aquene

City Wolves

Can you hear them?
The wolves are growling and howling less than a mile away
Galloping on their concrete streets with their massive bodies.
Fatally destructive and yet so easily destructible
Killing the life that brought it to life
And yet we take pride in these wonderful animals
These complicated beasts domesticated by man’s own hand
So which side will we be on?
Will we help in the salvation of this complex creature or will we watch tem slowly wither away into distinction?
Either they go or we go. The Earth is no longer big enough for the both of us.
