Civil War Poem by Kedosai Smith

Civil War

As the sounds of guns burst
and the slaves curse,
the feeling of dread
and the sky filled with red.

The cannons let loose their fury
and people shiver in worry
as our long term brothers
start fighting each other.

At the red crack of morning
the bells sound in warning.
The houses fall down from fires
and people call each other liars.

The armies gather around together
marching away, farther and farther.
Mothers and children weep
as their husbands leave their keep.

The cries of tormented souls
as graveyards are filled with holes.
The feeling of happiness expires.
As the devil smirks and admires
