Clambering Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

Clambering

Clambering
Climbing
Clambering
Tick
Tick
Tick
The stairs
I dream into the
Night
fragment
I slumber in the cool
Heat
Torrid
Of vampire rage
Into
The sliding
Rocks
Of
Centuries
The cave mouths
Took
Long
Long
Centuries
And
Open
To
The winds
And
Open
To the sea-salts
The scents of ocean
Diamonds
The quiver
Of
The light
That came
And went:
Whilst every quarter
The cathedral bells of Saint John struck
There was a night nigh to the
Edge
Nigh to the last
It broke
There were tiny hunters
Tiny particles yet
Hunters
And
There was resignation in the
Airs:
There was a roasted fire
Low
Low at the windows
That one on one
Cascaded to the yard
Depths of the yard.
