Clocks Poem by Barry Middleton

Clocks

it can't be time
to say goodbye

I sang
the baby's lullaby

then turned around
to see him grown

now I am in
the house alone

I once did know
a brown eyed girl

but that was in
another world

and that was from
another time

before the ticking
clock could chime

reminding me
of all these things

that must unwind
like clockwork springs
