Clouds Over The Graveyard Poem by Sajee Rayaroth

Clouds Over The Graveyard

Rating: 5.0

A candle was not lit for you, my little girl,
A flower was not left beside you in remembrance,
No tears, no prayers,
It's now a graveyard, your nation!

Those wings will never fly you as high as the vultures do,
The blue sky is not near as you desire,
It's far beyond the white clouds, and by the time you reach
The invisible God will be numb for vague promises.

The streets that you walked along with your dad,
The parks that you played with your siblings and friends,
The peaceful nights that you slept in your mother's arms,
All were blindly traded in the madness for religion.

The flowers you watered in the garden of love,
The birds that chirped endlessly in the day,
The dreams that nurtured every root to life,
All were burned into ashes forever in the night.

Every graveyard will tell stories of many,
Those who battled their life without a name or identity,
Those who were raped and flung in the streets,
Those who helplessly embraced death as their final destiny.

A nation was never built in a day,
A culture was never spawned in the midnight,
Listen those cries splitting the darkness,
Devils can destroy history within seconds.

This candle wick won't light for you tonight,
The blood stained feather will float without a destination,
Tears will never roll down in vanity,
But each drop will solidify as my tribute to your land.

When you reach among the white clouds before you rain down,
Ask the frozen Almighty who lost our trust forever,
Where is the light for a desolated nation to triumph?
When will those fragrant flowers blossom again?
