Cloudy Eclipse Poem by AtreyaSarma Uppaluri

Cloudy Eclipse

Rating: 5.0

The monsoon would be pretty soon
The Mets predicted
As usual, with élan
Causing hopes in billions of bosoms.

It was a bet
Said the Met.
Yet, yet, yet
It wouldn’t get wet.
Rains ditched us.
Every ditch was dry.

Farmers craned their necks skyward
Yet rains continued their rage
Of relentless dry spell.
Rains became a mirage
Took away the farming and urban fun.

At least let’s enjoy
The rare solar eclipse
Of the century
Everyone anticipated.

Then,
Suddenly
The rains broke their silence
And let themselves loose like hell
From their undissolved
And ever thickening layers
Of dark and gloomy clouds

Here, below
Everything was dark and sombre
Not because the sun hid behind the moon
But because of the cloudy eclipse
Of the invisible celestial wonder.
