Cock A Doodle Doo - Poem by terence nabbs

There’s a little farm across the road, And a family’s just moved in. We went across to meet them, just the other day, They showed us round the yard, where all the animals stay. They’ve got a load of little Pigs, a flock of Sheep as well, Three Dogs, herd of Cattle, and a Cat called Tinkerbelle. They've got this crazy Rooster he thinks he owns the farm. You have to creep in quietly to keep yourself from harm. I don’t mind the bleating of the Sheep the mooing of the Cows, Tractor noises late at night into the early hours, But when I’m deep in slumber, dreaming dreams, I hope come true, I’m awoken with a sudden start, by, “ COCK A DOODLE DOO” Perched each morning on the farmyard fenceHe heralds in the Dawn, Telling the neighbours across the road a brand new day is born. This happens every morning we’re awakened by that Cock, But it happened just last Sunday, we slept till nine O’clock, The silence it was deafening we couldn't believe our ears. Walking over towards the yard, the farmer, he appears. We’re having a barbeque tonight, will you come across, I’ll  be cooking sausage on a stick, hamburger, hot dogs too.     And I’m cooking something special, That, “COCK A DOODLE DOO”
