Coexist Poem by James Darwin Smith II

Coexist

Where there are feelings
There is pain
Where there are wants
All is numb
There is a bigger picture
Somewhere around
High and low ground
Too many ups and downs
As these elevator of thoughts
Protrude themselves as wolves
But everything is alright
Counting sheep
Waiting for intrusive nightmares
To turn into dreams
As these eyes shut
Knowing there is something
Afar much bigger than anything here

But then I have to wake up
Only to see a disgruntled ghost
It's me screaming
At the top of my head

Spirit and flesh
Wondering
Was it all worth it?

I am between
The darkness and light
Of myself

I must coexist
