Coffee Shop Poem by Iman Irfan

Coffee Shop

I step into an oven of aromas
vanillas, spices, and caramels
my mouth is dry but I don't cry
instead I get myself a slice of pie
I sit down ready to eat
but as I pick up my fork
I hear her pop a cork
for all its worth I give her a stare
I mouth 'how'd you dare? '
but my sister was a devil
she chugged it down and reveled
she even stole my feast
downed it like a beast
I stand up with full force
but I bottled up my anger
I pay up at the counter
my stomach still rumbling
I walk out the door
my cravings on edge
I don't know what to tell myself
for I was fooled by a fool
I sit out on a stool
and read myself a book
hoping for the best
and pray lest
