Colorado Dreaming Poem by Laurence Overmire

Colorado Dreaming

Rating: 5.0

The cabin
Set on Rocky Mountainside
Snow-capped peaks across the valley
Green meadow and wildflower below

Wood-burning fireplace
Logs piled high
Bacon sizzling on the skillet
Smoke curling through the pines

The dog barks
An echo rolls along the road
A bird in answer
Wings a song into the sky

L.A. is gone
A stone skipped upon a mountain stream
Washed into the sea
My boots crunch the needles in applause.
