Colors - Poem by jessie garcia

Why do we have this north side, south side, east side, and west side.
With all these gangs i just want to go in my room and hide.
I dont want to worry about walking down the wrong street wearing the wrong color, someone getting shot by their own brother just because of a certain color.
I hate seeing fights, watching violence reach new hieghts just because of a certain color.
In elementery it used to be so simple but now we are going to the penitentary just because of a certain color.
There are gang fighting gangs and nobody just hangs around anymore all you can hear is the sound of a gun roar just because of a certain color.
Now you can see all the things a simple thing like a color can cause and put peoples life on pause.
