Colors In The Night Poem by Marilyn Lott

Colors In The Night

The sun had set the other night
The sky was like a raging fire
Brilliant red and orange stood out
A sight of which I will never tire

And as I drove the colors changed
A blend of lavender then yellow
So beautiful I stopped my car
The world seemed soft and mellow

It was breathtaking, I’ll tell you
It was too spectacular to be real
And yet it was right before me
In my heart there was a gentle feel

As I started driving once again
A windmill loomed large above
I could see images in the swirls
Oh, it’s a sight I truly love

The fence line stood very black
With the colors churning all around
The only thing I could hear
Were crickets with their chirpy sound

No matter how long I live
I will never get over a sight
After the sun has gone down
The colors that light up the night!
