For twenty years, I chose to share this house inside this street,
That grants me reasons to compare great neighbours that I meet.
The first ones met, who now still live, while others passed away,
The ones with Christmas cards to give and those who chose to pray.
Of course, some old folks lived their last, but now I'm their age, too.
It won't be long until I've passed, then bid this street adieu.
It's best to stick around, I know. This street may serve me well.
Though neighbours come and neighbours go, I'll stay here for a spell.
I'll persevere though others fail, I'll save cash when I can,
I'll prove there's still an Alpha Male inside this faithful man.
I'll take each day, as it may come, for each day proves God's gift,
Each granted not to all, but some, for each new day they've lived.
And blessed is this community, each New Year when it starts,
Whenever God's tranquillity indwells our minds and hearts,
And who knows what each year may bring in each month, glad or sad?
Yet I'll praise God when pondering God's blessings that we've had!
