Compassionate Heart Poem by Kenneth Maswabi

Compassionate Heart

Rating: 5.0

In my stupidity
I looked this word "compassion" in the dictionary
I did not find one's colour of the skin as a condition against compassion
I did not find one's religious affiliation as a condition against compassion
I did not find one's social status as a condition against compassion
I did not find one's age as a reason against compassion
I did not find one's education background as a condition against compassion
I did not find one's political affiliation as a condition against compassion
I did not find one's country of origin as a condition against compassion
I did not find one's gender as a condition against compassion
I did not find one's sexual orientation as a reason against compassion
I did not find one's incapacitations as a condition against compassion
I found that the word refers to "others" regardless of sex, religion, race, tribe, age or any other classifications
I found that the word refers to "sympathetic consciousness of others' distress together with a desire to alleviate it." - Merriam-Webster Dictionary.
I found humanity
And I felt compassion moving inside my heart
