Complexion Of A Butterfly Poem by Derek Fitzpatrick

Complexion Of A Butterfly

I ain't sleepin' baby..

The light just stings my eyes
Beneath the livid moonlight,
I bite Into her skin,
Ecstasy marries adrenaline,
Blood..
Filled with pure sin.

Curiosity,
Skinned the Mighty Lion.
Hung over the fire,
Silverfuck funeral pyre
Graveyard gathering,
Full of legends & liars.

I'm far from trapped here,
This is the land,
Where the dead breathe
Without fear,
The perimeter..
I think were happy here.

Below the sea,
Medusa breeds,
Gazing at her reflection
Slithering, slyly..
Saving time's complexion
Only to foresee what is etched in stone.

Lift the shroud,
Limitless or limited?
Tear open the door to your soul.
Off the hydrogen hinges.
The land where conscience cringes
The Snake's home, & Rabbit's hole.

Live inside the dream, imagine.
Mythical musical magicians
Piercing all corridors
With symphonic coalition
Melodic, melted & mended,
Begin here, where it ended.

Beyond border,
The gates are out of order.
Are you still there?
Your voice is drowning darling..
Are we done? Or starting?
O'er the hills, unto the departing.

Is my mind really mine?
Thinking on borrowed time..
I see your eyes.
You can't see mine.
A 1 winged butterfly..
Suspended in time.
