Compulsive Existentialism Poem by RIC BASTASA

Compulsive Existentialism

i want it to be
simple,
not even unique
so that
it cannot be
noticeable,
i do not want
any sophistication
or any
complication
but the more i want it to be simple
it gets more complicated
the more i put order to it
the more
it becomes unmanageable
i want to put it inside
a system
so i can easily trace and
manipulate it
but it simply has a life of its
own
and it makes its own
decisions
i want to contain it
in a box
tape it
and create a vacuum in
it
but it knows its ins and outs
and knows
how to break out from
boxes
i want to keep it
but it
knows what freedom is
it cannot be
mine
and now
outwitted
i have become
itself.
