Conformism Poem by Tony Sandy

Conformism

Rating: 5.0

Conform, conform
Do what I say.
Conform, conform
Do things my way.

You tell me to do this
You say I should do that,
I try to be me
But you just want to
Squash me flat.

Conform, conform
Do what I say.
Conform, conform
Do things my way.

I hear your empty words,
You say you know best
I listen broken hearted
Because you consider me
a much too lively pest.

Conform, conform
Do what I say.
Conform, conform
Do things my way.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This started out as a song for a band that never got off the ground, which I was a member of for one bleak rehearsal

Tony, I first read it as a lyric, then saw your comment. Strong message. Maybe it shouldn't go unheard. Just saying.
