Conquered Poem by Randy McClave

You came and you saw and you conquered and won
You never sought forgiveness or permission,
Speaking truth by you or your kind was just fun
Then you gave your wealthy friends free admission.
You said this land was undiscovered and new
As your boat was tied off to a newly constructed pier,
You celebrated with your crew
But, the natives of this land was already living here.
Now you proclaim that this is now your land
Even though it was stolen and not yours to steal or take,
You placed your flag deep into the sand
Now your new country and beliefs you did make.
You now cautiously guard your borders
Now you're fearing others will enter into your nation,
As you listen to your lord's orders
You believe foreigners are trying to harm you is your allegation.
Your fears betrays your character and your kind
Rather than trusting the abundance of nature or a stranger,
You think constantly with a poisoned mind.
From what you know and all you now see is danger.
You never know the goodness of the human spirit
You find it difficult to trust someone who says they are your equal,
With those beliefs and thoughts you've destroyed it
Because, you know yourselves to be untrustworthy and deceitful.
