Constellation Poem by Maurice Rowlands

Constellation

As I crawl my way up from the bottom of the wishing well
And see the stars above
Pleiades
The seven sisters shine down on me
Removing the thorns and brambles from my face
So I can see

As I climb out from my slaves chamber in that pyramid
And see the stars above
Orion
Great warrior that shouts down at me
Removing the bandages and embalming fluid from my body
So I can see

As I swim away from the dark ending of Easter Island
And see the stars above
Crux
Magnificent Southern Cross
Removing the images of those giant godlike heads from my mind
So I can see

I will rise up through the sky and bathe and frolic
In the soft lapping waves of the shining Milky Way
That has been arcing across the sky throughout my lifetimes
Removing all from me except my essence

So I can see
