Contaminated Childhood Poem by Anne Marie

Contaminated Childhood

Plain and simple in my view
Normality through and through

The same as others mine was not
As others were I had forgot

From that cup I did not drink
To that god I did not wink

Evil cloud shadowed me
Through tainted eyes I did see

Secret lives behind the wall
With hero demon standing tall

From the feet beneath the table
To escape I was unable

Nor led to think I needed to
Life I’d grown accustomed to

Now educated by my sorrow
To appreciate tomorrow

Memories drag behind
Demons life at last resigned

Childhood burden now confined
In the secrecy of mind.
