Contemporary Gandhi Poem by DR KUSUMITA MUKHERJEE

Contemporary Gandhi

Rating: 5.0

It is so easy to impersonate
To be what is not to be
Especially when the design is to win…
Support.

Dear old man lived simply
Tried to preach sobriety to a mentally colonized nation
Starved for the sake of his motherland
Spent not a moment in idle musings
What judgement was meted out to him?
Shot.
For propounding the message of Peace.

We could not protect the jewel of our Mother's crown
- - The Father of the Nation.
At least we could help save him from becoming the asset of hypocrites
Those that ape the great man and his ways
Proposing to do that which has little or no remedy.
