DR KUSUMITA MUKHERJEE Poems

Does your world change if the music ceases?
Do you even notice?
May be you do.
But your busy mind won't let you ponder.
...

When birds walk
They look so strange
Eyes are accustomed to flight
But not to that stasis
...

A raggedly mongrel
Sprawled on the wet grass
Eyes half closed
Tongue lolling over his canines
...

Black
Colour of Night, Evil and something as petty as nigella seeds.

You are hideous
...

I dare not call it a dream,
Frightening it was as it was seen:
Life and death tussling perpetually
Visual concussion suffocating synchronically
...

Garbage
Who thinks about that?
Already burdened with a thousand chores
...

7.

Perfect little home
Three little dolls
Singing and playing
...

Winds burst through
I cannot feel the rhythm of my heart.
Are you deserting me?
You cannot- -
...

It is so easy to impersonate
To be what is not to be
Especially when the design is to win…
Support.
...

Absence makes a grave presence in our hearts
It does not let us neglect even for a moment
But for it we forget the living and breathing
The only thing that bothers us is the gaping black hole.
...

Eyes, teeth, fingers and toes
Sound, functional
Mind- - Intelligent
Looks- - Divine
...

The golden ray touches the eyelashes

Gold on black
...

I cannot bear to see my darling's face shinning with tears
Yet I am confused.
Should I let her be defeated?
For the claim she has laid is void.
...

Stars cannot hide their fire;
They do not possess fire.
Yet to the guilty eye star light seems potent enough to scorch their very souls.
...

Raindrops cannot standstill on the umbrella
They slide off like tears from the eyes.
Eyes brim with emotion
Either to be wiped away or gulped down for the sake of anonymity.
...

Silver dazzle of jet black long hair;
Soft, sad downcast brown eyes;
Silent thin lips;
Supple but skilled hands;
...

A burdensome human
Eyesore of her own family.
A perfectly normal human yet an undesired child.
She can incur only financial loss without endowing any material gain.
...

Love they can
Nourish they can
Calm they can
Bear they can
...

Who has taught him to beg?
I wonder
Does he even have parents?
Or do they have too many mouths to feed to get bothered?
...

Someone's clawing me.
A rat?
A cat?
A dog?

Live And Let Live

Does your world change if the music ceases?
Do you even notice?
May be you do.
But your busy mind won't let you ponder.
Got to get things done,
Meet deadlines.

Where is the time to stop and reflect?
Anyway it's an unending parade.
So who cares if the beggar does not stop by your door?
Or the dog that was limping and mewling last week?
Even that unearthly howl.
That woman…what a poor sight she was.
Incessant wailing.

Now the path is bare.
Forsaken by the undesirables.
The forgotten ones who have chosen to forget this place.
This street fares as well as ever
Left alone to its insensitivity.
