Control Freak Poem by Amani AlSaddiq

Control Freak

She controls what I wear, what I eat,
What I study and who I meet,
How I sit and talk, even the way I walk,
How my hair is cut, and what I study,
Not allowed to keep a mobile, she even controls my money.
Can't talk or have fun, she controls what answer I have to give if guests ever come.
Dad's made me under-confident about my abilities by constantly criticising,
Mum scoring points with others is all she bloody prioritises,
It stresses me and depresses me.
Everyone ignores me, I feel all alone,
I'm sick of being controlled and left sitting at home.
Having to lie to everyone around me,
I want to have my own personality and be strong.
Become free from these chains to prove everyone wrong.
