Conversations Poem by Bob Densmore

Conversations

I can’t this weekend; they’re sending me out of town again.
I’m sorry. I know you were counting on going camping.
Next weekend for sure, OK?
Graduating from high school already?
What happened to camping?

I wished I could visit more often.
I would love to see the grandkids.
You taking the kids camping and want us to come along?
Oh not this weekend, but I promise we’ll all go again.
Mom is not feeling too well.

I loved your mother very much.
I can’t believe she’s gone.
No, I think I will just stay home this Christmas.
Maybe next year though.
I just want to be alone for a while.

Can you come over and help me around the house?
I got some things to do that I just can’t seem to do anymore.
Your job is taking you out of town this weekend? Oh, ok.
But maybe next weekend you can? Oh that would be great.
Wished you could come over more often.

You guys up for camping this weekend?
I understand. If you have to work, you have to work, it’s OK.
Maybe next weekend we can get together over here then.
I’ll have us some cold one’s ready, how does that sound?
I miss seeing all the grandkids.

How about a barbeque this weekend?
And be sure and bring all the grandkids.
What’s that you say? They’re already out of high school?
And you two are going away, alone, on a cruise?
Oh that is great. You two deserve it. When you get
back we’ll have to talk.

Hello. Dad! Are you there?
Pickup Dad, it’s me.
Dad are you there?
DAD? ? ? ? ? ?
