Cornel's Song Poem by Odhiambo Gilbert Francis

Cornel's Song

Rose dear, come let us sing a song,
A song of our lives and the completeness of our union,
Of hope rising above a sea of fear,
Years of mournful numbers and uncertain desires.

Let us sing a song that is true,
The rhythm of our hearts’ pounding,
A tree planted in love’s eternal river,
And tuned with the whistling wind of the forests.

Come let’s sing of the fire that rages within us,
And the water that quenches it,
Come let us sing, come let us sing,
Come let us sing the song of our new love.
