Corner Desk Poem by Geo Riv

Corner Desk

The sun splits into countless squares, softly seeping
thru curtain, knit-tight, ancient,
falling
on left hind leg of chair, a teapot, bored,
fruitflies, askew mirror, spoons, unswept floor
where somewhere lies
a worthless bottle
and bowl of de-hydrated rice.

For days on end, time loomed from tiny squares,
ramming on the dirty window panes, echoing
the hollow,
hollow, hollow.

Royalty, claiming, indiscriminately, royal notice,
one can tell;
The feet retreat, but still one meets
the shapeless face one dreads to see,
a brutal monarchy,
storming from a hundred doors,
(not one welcome mat in sight) .

Whoever welcomed time and tax,
and sit amongst the enemies?

For a while, I die, to see: Clearly,
Need, Night, Eternity on squares unseen,
flaunting busy blowflies, starless sky
and sunless sea;
And oh, the sallow yellow squares
(what a killjoy, i can be!)
could either mean the actual day
or neighbor's lights, how paranormal can that be.

But, strip off time of all its royal garbs,
and bribe that boy who cried
not wolf,
but naked Royalty! And see!
How truly frantic I must be.

Walk in circles inside a square.
Sit on any empty chair;
and watch your humor flee.

Wow! That's an amazing poem; phenomenal imagery and a clearly unique syntax.
