Costly Choices - Poem by Thomas L. Slater

The cost of modern living has risen to the extent
That money taken in is less than money spent.
In order for a family to survive these troubled times
Moments spent together are fewer they will find.
As we give up our lives to meet this great expense
You have to ask yourself, where is our common sense?
Unless you've come to feel that you really need
All these costly products more than family
