Counting Crows, Rain Parade Poem by Andrus Cassian

Counting Crows, Rain Parade

Counting the ways of
how I'm falling for you
similar to counting all the crows
hanging on a nearby decaying tree..
Started off in an unknown surrounding
barely in contact with anybody
Months pass and now
this place is somewhat similar to home
with friends and hardly enough family
Still lacking someone to hold though
broken hand, a simple wish
something to help me stop writing my monologues
something to help me cease my constant pondering
something to help me forget...
but that wish has an expiration date: today
Somewhere around October
seeing the rain outside the window pane
feels like a parade
Among the days of reigning sadness like a plague
Skies may be a little grey
and my heart is still a little frayed
from the strain of...just becoming a destroyed building
Of course it's been reversed
The parade is only a tunnel with a light shining through
appearing at the end
All the faces and people I've met
in the front of the crowd
Standing forward, breaking through
yet the face is vague
Thoughts race through my mind
like chariots in a game
but the thoughts subside and the world spins right
