Countless Days Poem by Jayson Howard

Countless Days

It seems a tired heart is weighing you down.
Feels like years since he’s been around.
You spend your nights,
attached to your pillow and faded dreams.

It seems you’ve done nothing but break down lately.
He told you to “Walk away. Hate me.”
You spend your nights pretending you’re alright,
but you’re not what you seem.

How long does it take,
to stop a change?
Well, destiny is one thing,
but you had something.
And you said goodbye,
took a long cry,
over and over,
but it’s still not over.
And you’re hoping,
he’ll find his way back to you…

Tears fall upon the pages that you read.
You’re wondering, “When will he come back to me? ”
You realize everything has changed,
nothing’s stayed the same.

Tears fall upon your jacket as you drive.
No, you can’t help wondering “Why? ”
You realize everything had changed,
Because you let him walk away.

How long does it take,
to stop a change?
Well, destiny is one thing,
but you had something.
And you said goodbye,
took a long cry,
over and over,
but it’s still not over.
And you’re hoping,
he’ll find his way back to you…

Now time is running out,
you say “What’s the point anyways? ”
But maybe you should recall,
how he was there for countless days.
Destiny is one thing,
and you had something,
but how more long nights will you put yourself through,
hoping he’ll find his way, back to you…?

You said goodbye,
took a long cry,
over and over,
but it’s still not over.
And you’re hoping,
he’ll find his way back to you…
