A bustling city in an ancient land
Calamity fell, brought by nature's hand
In a market wet, a pestilence brewed
Insidious, unseen, a pandemic flu
Mysterious, unknown, through the province fanned
A catastrophe that destiny planned
The contagion spread while anxiety grew
In due course they found, ‘twas a virus new
The nation rallied, took a common stand
Together they fought for the motherland
Through illness and death with all that they knew

1 - I laughed at: " Trumping up fake news" Certainly you are NOT referring to 'my' beloved President? ! I think i figured out that you meant to type a comma, not a semi-colon in this line: (right?) " Felt securely safe and from the blight; free" i'd also put a comma in front of " from" . (cont.)
