Crawling Rays Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Crawling Rays

Crawling rays

Saw the signs on trees,
Near us, in our ravine:
"Be aware, are filming."

Went to watch,
Have a talk.

There, I felt like a child,
Back I was in Hana…

Some of my brothers
Cousins of shared uncles,
Too close, some further
In our blood, relation.

Our mattress is single,
We share one blanket.

Dark, blue, night sky,
Playful, dance stars,
One becomes a devil,
Soon it is out of sight,
Bullet-like goes to die.

My brother, Ahmad
Master of the telltales,
Feeds us with stories,
Obnoxious, we sleep.

Waking up half yawning,
Hear birds are chirping:
"Royal sun is coming,
Get up kids, is morning."

Gold are rays, crawling,
Move as does the breeze.

Huge bell on lead goat
Mixes with bark of dogs:
"Follow me sheepishly,
Must head for grazing…! "
