Cries Of A Mother.... Poem by Edwina Aleme

Cries Of A Mother....

A woman on her knees
tears in her eyes
wanting and asking
when she would concieve,
waiting and in pains...

A mother, having her own
as she dances, in thanks.
cuddling her new born,
paying a visit to the riverbanks
and making her request known...

One day, the sky became gloomy
she searchingfor her child,
crying and wondering...
a total disaster, so blind
who would help her?

child lay motionless on the floor,
pain so excrutiating....
she bangs on her door
'onwu gini k'am mere gi? '
(death what have i done to you?)
she growls in pain and anger
for all she hoped for has eloped
to an endless journey......
