Cruel Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Cruel

Cruel

Not always good is good
-different are "Would", "Could"
- "Is" varies from "Should" …

Once saw hawk catch pigeon
-arrival was thunder
-departure was wonder…

Meant to save the prey
Meant being good and help.

Ran, lifted some pebbles
-threw them, as bullets
-the hunter surrendered
-went away; left victim…

Fatherly and kindly
-lifted the feared bird
-heard its heart in feather
-slowly found some shade
-near seeds, and water…

Now, free was wounded
-skin, peeled from chest
-calmly I, left it there…

Smiled at my good deed
-felt great and relieved.

Gave some time, then-after
-went back to check on her
-though had meant to be help
-the hunted was cold, dead…
-Deep inside could feel, felt
-to have been murderer…

Came to me "Would" and "Should"
-multiplied, joined with "Could"
-and echoes of the waves:
- "You, cruel, unaware…"

Looked in way of the hawk
-embarrassed, was ashamed
-turned its food into waste! ! !
