Curfew And A Bird Poem by Nida Nawaz

Curfew And A Bird

The kite has clasped
In its talons
All the bustle of the city
Upon the streets wanders
The barefoot witch of silence
The sparrow has lulled her children
To sleep in broad daylight
Upon the bedding of her anxious heart
And beside her pillow she has placed
A grimy bundle of forebodings
Far away, amid the settlement
Perched atop an electric pole
A bird, sailing his little boat
Upon the waves of the sky
Has fallen and died.
