Curing Boredom Poem by Anisha Nyambe

Curing Boredom

Rating: 3.0

'Their troubles have me deep in thought.
To cure boredom, I have not yet been taught.
Now they ask for something new
and I do not wish to give them anything less than few.

"They have asked for a discovery and I will not disappoint
and like a compass, my words, the way they will point.
These words, I put them together and say
‘Do as you might and not as you may.'

"There is a kind of hush on this lovely morn
and the people who isolated us outside scorn.
And now I stand to cure our disease
whose menace will not dare to cease.

"If the mathematicians can calculate complicated trigonometry
call me a poet and I'll call this poetry."
