Currents Poem by jessica orr

Currents

Rating: 5.0

i said the reef free.
i set it up, right.
elongated, crook out
interfering with a current.

a thought, electric current
down my back, head remembers,
teeth chatter, skulls grin
undead exist, on juices made;
steam flickers from holes
of
bullets, ripening
from the police line.

line of white, barriers
or snorted;
hiccups or brained by
burly disgusting smell-
is it me or him?

there was a time,
a place when a start is set;
dreams of waking up in his bed;
poor reminder of a lost,
found in ashes or
fogged island of the damned

but these were just currents,
a foamed drip, mouth glad,
fear gone, love turned
a bed alone,
i said this in the way-
i pushed it free again.
