Dad Poem by Nathan Espiritu

Dad

I am really sorry for what was done.
If you knew, you would know
I will never stop being your son.
I will never hate you, no matter what you do.
I just do this cause I want you to feel.
The way that I felt when your role in my life started to melt.
You started to fade, without a trace.
No goodbye! No hello! In my heart no place.
You lost my respect. When you started to neglect.
All I wanted to do is hear your voice with a call.
Show you still cared, but instead you built a wall.
This barrier so tall and wide.
I wish one day we could be on the same side.
The fact that your gone is hard to focus on.
Can't think! It just won't sink in to my head.
Instead it lingers there out in my mind.
Starting to make me go blind with fury and by doing this it makes weary.
I start to swing words of hate.
But before I stopped it was to late.
