Dad's Advice Poem by Clemency Takawira

Dad's Advice

If industry persists in misfiring
And dispossesses you of employment
If inflation continues to rise
And deprives you of your needs
If you are distressed by
The outcome of an election
And can't change a thing
Get a passport, Son
Apply for a Visa
Fly away
Home is best
When everything is wrought
Do not let your patriotism
Deny you the right to live
Worlds exist where pastures are still green
The universe is yours to explore
Let not your patriotism
Blind you to see beyond
The impediments in your country.
