Tears Poem by Clemency Takawira

Tears

Rating: 5.0

I've witnessed my wife cry before
And I would know what was in store
I've seen her cry twice
Maybe thrice
But each time she cries
It touches the very core of me

I once saw her tears spill
From her eyes
Drawing question marks down her face
As if asking me why?
Why are you cheating?
Why are you being unfaithful?
I just sighed
'cause I know I'm tired
Of hurting her feelings
By my unbecoming dealings

When my wife cried
I felt my cheeks wet too
I cried too
Next time she cries
I will make sure I ain't the cause
Because
If I betray her trust
I'm only hurting myself
'cause her tears do things to me
Her tears touch
The very core of me.
