Damn Things - Poem by Robert Brendan

Sometimes it will just
flash once
and the screen will say
new voice message
but it never rang
all the time
you try to talk
and to listen
and there is clicks and then
the message
on the screen
will tell you that the network
has been switched
that in midstream
you were connected
but shuttlebacks and through
only this black bolt of
precision luck
you were there
back again
talking and listening
to the same person
who has not been
replaced
only the wave between
the plastics and
oils
was changed
but other times
its not as nice as that
and you just get
cut off.
