I walk upon this beaten path
Where sorrows thrive and joys may not pass.
And down a hill where flowers do not grow
There lies a pool of lonely woe
And in that pool my reflection lies
And all happiness i hold dies
For in this pool my fate there stays
So here i wait for the end of my days
But out of the corner of this vision i own
I behold to me a wonder unknown
It is a leaf, so galliant and strong
That waltzes its way through nature's song
And up above from darkend sky
There sings a bird about to fly
It comes down to join this lovely wonder
Of simple pleasure in a world of plunder
They glide together, leaf and bird
With a song that stays to ears unheard
And as i watch them float and prance
I get up,
And i dance.
