Dancing In Her Underwear Poem by wild fire

Dancing In Her Underwear

She slid out of her old jeans
and kicked off her aching shoes
A bad day had her sick
and she had the blues.

She wandered around
the fridge beared more bad news
he was leaving her
adding to her blues

grabbing the ice cream
and leaving the note where it was
she headed for the living room
'its just the two of us'

she laughed at her self
talking to her icecream
how did she get this way
yesterday is just a dream

married to her job
afraid to let loose
her friends left her
then he did too

she put the icecream down
and turned on some Joan Jett
'Dont give a damn bout this reputation'
she sang not having enough fun yet

he came back to get his things
to see her dancing on the table
he'd never seen her like this
she learned the lesson of this fable

he laughed
as he watched her let go
she hadnt been like this
he enjoyed his show

he carried her from the table
and then to the bed
it was hard to determine the brightest smile
both finally connected from toe to head

the courtship saved
by the joy they shared
together after this bad day
they danced in their underwear
