Dark Ages Poem by Mark Nichols

Dark Ages

Day is dim, it looks like night in the Dark Ages
Dragons still put up a good fight in the Dark Ages
Wrong looks a little bit more like right
Right is recht, and nacht is night in the Dark Ages

Mother Mary comes to me in the Dark Ages
Gettin' used to Patriarchy in the Dark Ages
Sanguine, melancholic fools
Come to me with their wooden tools in the Dark Ages

Help me Mother, make it through the night
Help me, help me, help me get it right
'Cause I'm stuck here, lost without a light
In the Dark Ages (Dark ages, dark ages)

Witches sink and serpents swim in the Dark Ages
Sister Sledge and Brothers Grimm in the Dark Ages
Plague, she come, nobody wins
Flog yourself to death for sin in the Dark Ages

Help me Mother, make it through the night
Help me, help me, help me get it right
'Cause I'm stuck here, lost without a light
In the Dark Ages (the dark ages, dark ages…)
