Dark Cloud - Poem by Valarie Paterson

The dark cloud looms around me
Hiding in the shadows of pain
And blocking the sun
It never strays far

Just when I think it has left
It wraps me in an unforgiving blanket of despare
Whispering in my ear
Playing tricks on my mind

As it tightens it's grip on me
I cry and cry
About all the lies
Hoping someone will hear my plea
But my effort is in vain

Until this pain subsides
And I have found the light
I will continue screaming
For someone to please save me
