Dark Monsoons Poem by Mehreen Mujeeb

Dark Monsoons

Your tears became chameleons
When you walked through the rain
The clouds were evil shades of grey
You couldn’t find a train.

You used the rain to water your soul
And saw yourself from outside
You saw a man who was so much more
Than what others can be inside.

The rain wouldn’t let you close your eyes
A sandman came to help
Your eyes closed to finally sleep
But the rain didn’t turn to sunshine.

Colour you shades of grey
Come take my hand
I’ll take you to a place
Where your sleep doesn't need the sand.
