Dark Passage Poem by Lora Colon

Dark Passage

Whose arms will cradle me tenderly
When from this domain Death bids me pass?
Whose heaven becomes eternal hell
As I'm laid beneath the grass?

Whose lips will quiver and call my name,
With endless tears streaming down his face?
Whose arms will reach out in deep despair,
Begging just one more embrace?

Whose trembling hands will be joined in prayer
Seeking comfort from the Lord above?
Who will promise never to forget
Our vows of eternal love?

Who then shall write the final tribute
That I'll carry through eternity - -
A poem suffused with anguish, perhaps,
Vowing endless love for me?

Who will stand by my grave in Autumn
When the drying flowers give up their seeds?
Will I be draped in roses and ferns......
Or under a pall of weeds!

Whose light will diminish the darkness
In my passage to Eternity?
If such love is never to be mine,
Who'll care when I cease to be!
