Dark Reunion Poem by Ridah Ellahi

Dark Reunion

All the commotion around me
Fades into the background
Leaving me alone with my thoughts
Scared
But can’t make a sound
I put up the walls
I can’t bear to relive those moments
The moments of our laughter together
The moments spent in your arms
The moments of our love
Too much pain has piled up now
Let it go, my love
Let’s turn over a new leaf
You hesitate
And take away
The last ray of hope
The last ray of my sanity
I have you so close
Yet you are so far
I can’t bear to lose you again
I’m giving all I can
Do you not see
I stand alone in this barren land
For the only touch I need
Is yours
These transparent glass walls
Separate us now
Let’s break them, my love
I’ll hold your hand throughout
The rising sun
Ensures my hope of our reunion
But you hide back behind your armor
Push me back into the pitch black
Taking away my hope
The only thing that I ever had
But worry not, oh dear
I wait for you in this darkness
For you are my sole savior
The keeper of my lamp of happiness
But, dear love
I hope you would just make a sound
All it takes to reminisce
Is, after all
Just a moment of silence
