Darkness Poem by Leah DeCresce

Darkness

these are the darkest days, and those were the darkest ways.
the tantalizing lure in, the condescending push out,
just to be replaced.

in every way you broke me down,
threw me out into the cold stark white of a reality gone wrong.
it was my reality, it was our reality, it was over.

i knew from the start.
trust was something i never should have considered,
but it happened anyways.
the first time in years, the last time for years.
i'll never make these mistakes again.
