Darkness Poem by James Trotter

Darkness

A cloud looms overhead
Lightning strikes and all is lost
Sparks and embers flying
And one crashes into my eye
'I'm blind' I scream
But to no avail
Left to rot in the streets of the damned
A third world country
That is transparent to the non vision impaired
The asphalt rumbles
An opening appears
And hounds come thrashing
Throwing saliva into the air
And puncturing the necks of their prey
Lying all around me
Their fangs glistening in the moonlight
Street lights go out
The moon is shot down by the gods
Peach appears on the horizon
I realize I am in some strange land
And I scream for help
Some spacecraft to take me home
What ever that is
Soon light is no more
As the sun explodes into a supernova
The earth is washed away
Bathed of beauty
I am nothing more than a grain of sand
