Darkness Poem by Mary Rodriguez

Awake I lay, unable to sleep
Feeling a pain that runs so deep
Hope I had now faded away
There is no promise of another day
Freely, I opened my heart again
Sadly, to have that same familiar end
There are limits to what a person can take
Are hearts made whole, Just so they can break?
Darkness surrounds me, pulling me down
Uncontrollable tears, falling to the ground
Even in my darkest hour my feelings remain
Because no matter what, I love you the same
